A Belated Birthday-filled Post

First of all, I honestly cannot believe that I haven't posted anything since March...life has been THAT busy. I wanted to finally post some pictures from some yummy little cakes I made for my brother's 18th birthday and for our dear friend, Connie's 50th birthday! These two sets of cakes are about as opposite as can be. Connie's cupcakes were pink puffs of girly, sparkly, sugary yumminess...and Tyler's simpler cakes, more masculine, with an emphasis on chocolate =)

I Don't Do Weddings.....yet

My wedding photographer, Ashley (http://ashleymaxwellphoto.com/blog/), took the above shot as a part of Luke & I's engagement session (http://ashleymaxwellphoto.com/blog/bre-luke-a-sweet-engagement/). This is a part of mywedding.com's homepage as an ad for Ashley and her husband Jason's amazing work! I was pretty darn excited about it...but that is just me ;)

It also cracked me up...I have said it about one million times: "I won't take a Wedding Cake/Cupcake Order. It's too much pressure."

Let me elaborate. I feel like your wedding cake/cupcakes is the most important cake/cupcakes you will ever buy, and I would never take on an order that I am not completely confident I can execute perfectly. My schedule is so crazy, that I wouldn't want any details to be forgotten or rushed. So I've said no to wedding orders.

That said, a few weeks ago, I got two requests for wedding cakes/cupcakes, one right after the other. Let me tell you, I had to talk myself OUT of taking the orders. They just sounded so fun! So this is why they say "Never say 'Never'"...

Let's just say that I'm not saying when, but I won't say "Never" ;)

I Do Love a Good Birthday =)

My dear friend Megan turned 21 last month, and we celebrated with her by delivering her to her surprise party! What FUN! Her boyfriend and I did a great deal of conspiring and, though Megan claims to have had an idea about the hush hush event, she is just trying to be cool. She had no idea. hahaha ;)

And in case you were wondering, Megan's yummy (and age appropriate) cupcakes aren't on the BreCakes Flavor List! Just an example of how much fun it is to whip up custom flavors!

Happy Valentine's Day

I have to say that Valentine's day is my second favorite holiday (after Christmas) because c'mon...I love to be cheesy...I love PINK...and I loooove sweets =) Oh...and I am also a little bit totally in love =) ! Hope those who received this cupcake order loved them!

A Sweet Sixteen Style 45th Birthday...

These girly cakes were made for LauraBeth's 45th Birthday celebration! They were a yummy carrot cake with pink cream cheese frosting covered with roses and pearls. This was definitely one of my favorite orders. LauraBeth told me she wanted to go "Sweet 16" with the theme, but to keep in mind that this was "more of a sophisticated 16-year old." Love it.

Belated Hippos

I have been so ridiculously busy that I have kind of neglected this blog. I haven't baked in a couple weeks either... it's depressing. hahaha everything goes on hold for school (boo!)

Here's some more Hippos that I did a few weeks ago for the Morrison's son's girlfriend's 18th birthday =) Apparently, she is a huge fan of hippos, and hippos are apparently not an easy animal to find on anything (I did not know this... then again, I haven't spent very much time shopping for hippo things)
